Stoneygate Tram Depot Open Day / Oadby MotorFest

Stoneygate Tram Depot will be open on Sunday 11th August 2024 from 10 am to 4 pm. There is plenty to see and explore and there will be a special display of large scale maps of Oadby village in 1928, 1954, 1969 and 1975. There will also be a selection of street maps and timetables of bus services that served Oadby over many decades.

The Tram Depot is children friendly with some quirky fun related Meccano models to view and a pop-up bus to try out. Children are also encouraged to sit in our Kirby & West milk float and check the controls. This is always popular and parents don’t worry the milk float cannot be started!

There will be a modest admission charge at the Tram Depot of £2, with accompanied children free. The proceeds on the day will help the Trust to maintain the Tram Depot and to ensure the continual care of our vast archive.

A FREE classic bus service, using a Leicester City Transport 1950 Leyland PD2 double-decker and 1970 Metro-Scania single-decker together with a 1972 United Counties Bristol VRT double-decker, will also operate between the Tram Depot and The Parade, where the Oadby Motor Fest will be taking place. The buses will operate every 30 minutes between 10 am and 4 pm.

The event is finished.
